I Love Rock ‘n Roll

Those of you who follow me on Twitter or on Facebook may remember that, this past Saturday night, I was excited to be heading out to see a great band – DC’s own Memphis 59. Fronted by my friend Scott Kurt, a smoking hot rock star who also writes amazing original music and lyrics, Memphis 59 plays their own brand of straight up American rock ‘n roll. They are fantastic, and their song “Me, Myself & Eyes” is a hit in the making. They now have the opportunity to open for Blues Traveler – if we can help put them over the top by voting in On Tap‘s Last Band In competition.

There are 42 bands competing for four spots to perform on Saturday, 9 May, at Continental in Rosslyn. That night’s winner opens for Blues Traveler on Friday, 5 June at the Celebrate Fairfax! festival. Voting closes this Tuesday, 21 April, at 5:00pm, so cast your ballot online now – before it’s too late (and tell your friends)! Memphis 59 is currently rounding out the top ten in votes – but only the top four get a shot at this incredible opportunity.

The Celebrate Fairfax! festival is Northern Virginia’s largest community-wide event, featuring music, crafts, a carnival, and much more. The festival takes place 5-7 June, on the 25-acre grounds of the Fairfax County Government Center.
