Still looking for a way to put those New Year’s resolutions into practice? Stressed with Inauguration overload and need a way to decompress? In search of a fun, unique, rewarding, lush, and lovely way to spend a Saturday? Look no further. This Saturday, 17 January, from 10:00am-4:00pm, the delightful Kimberly Wilson, founder of Tranquil Space Yoga Studio and author of Hip Tranquil Chick, is hosting a New Year’s Gala at the historic Josephine Butler Center.

This isn’t a gala in the DC sense of black tie and canapés. Rather, it’s a full day of yoga and workshop modules to help the aspiring Tranquilista live her most fabulous year yet. Kate Vickers Deriso of Bountiful Living Wellness will join Kimberly to guide guests through sessions of yoga, nutrition, creativity, and goal setting. In addition, attendees will be treated to organic tea, succulent scones, and a delicious vegetarian lunch in the warm and welcoming Josephine Butler Center ballroom, complete with its hardwood floors and two fireplaces.

The cost for this full-day retreat is $125 and includes oodles of tea and treats, lunch, goody bag, and six lifestyle modules. Guests should register online to secure a spot, as space is limited. I can attest to Kimberly’s fantastic abilities, as not only a yoga instructor, but also a tranquil lifestyle guru and endless source of encouragement and inspiration. I spent three hours on New Year’s Day in her company, stretching my body and my mind, while planning my vision for 2009. It was time and money well-spent, and this Saturday’s event holds even more in store.
